First and foremost of news to share is that November 13th marked the day that Small Business Revolution announced their top 20 towns for Season 4. If you missed the news, Mt. Pleasant was not in the running this year but hey if they do it again next year we can nominate our town again for a chance in Season 5. I believe there were approximately 12,000 towns nominated so it was quite the task I’m sure for Deluxe/Small Business Revolution to narrow it down to 20.
However, congratulations is in order for the top 20!! Of the top 20, there was a Tennessee town chosen; Gallatin. YAY!! Way to go Gallatin. So even though we did not make it this year, we can rally around Gallatin as they go through the process and support them in anyway possible. I would love to see their town as the final winner.
Court House Ground Breaking
The City of Mount Pleasant announced that they will break ground on Wednesday, November 14th at 1:00PM for the new County Courthouse, Mt. Pleasant location on the corner of Bluegrass Ave and Olive Street. Come and celebrate this exciting time for Mount Pleasant! It might be chilly out but that doesn’t matter – just bundle up with a coat, scarf and gloves if you can make it.
TJ Smawls on South Main Street was closed for about a month while it got a face lift of sorts. It’s under new ownership and management with Dolores Blankenship. This is her new endeavor; after all she wasn’t busy enough. 🙂 But seriously, she loves our town and not only is one of the Commissioner, but now a local business owner. Go check out the new decor and eat a meal there. I need to get over there myself very soon. All the best to her!
1824 General Store
Who likes to shop? Who likes wine? “I do! I do! “, said the residents of Mt. Pleasant and surrounding communities.
“Glad to hear it”, said 1824 General Store. “Because between now and Christmas, every Thursday and Friday night from 5PM to 7PM, we are having Sip and Shop in the store”.
“What is Sip and Shop?”, they asked. 1824 General Store responded with excitement, “It’s a time for you to stop in and have a complimentary glass of wine (if you’re over 21 years of age) while doing some holiday shopping in the store. Doesn’t get much better than that.”
The residents of Mt. Pleasant and neighboring communities cheered with joy! 🙂
Shop Small Saturday
Every year there is a national campaign encouraging people to shop small businesses called Shop Small Saturday. It’s always on the Saturday after Thanksgiving. The Mt. Pleasant merchants would LOVE to have you do some shopping on Saturday, November 24th and support our community and local businesses. We will be open regular business hours from 10am – 7pm but check with your other favorite businesses in town for their hours. Thank you in advance for your support!

Sunday Funday in Mt. Pleasant
Participating merchants will be open various times on Sunday, November 25th. Last year several merchants had ornament decorating free to children to participate in while parents shopped for holiday gifts.
Each merchant will have something different to offer. Please check the merchants social media pages for more information. We at 1824 General Store will be open from noon – 4pm and will have ornaments for the kids to make and take home. Stop on in!
Whew… that’s probably enough for now although there is always something good happening in Mt. Pleasant. Thanks for reading and sharing my blog.
Until next time 🙂 Angela
